I have always loved to reminisce about my previous travels. I painted the Huangshan in my dream: the Flying Stone outside the Paiyun Pavilion, the Eighteen Lohan resting gracefully.
Reflections:
The Yellow Mountains, ephemeral in their splendor, rise with rugged grace, their crests adorned with twisted pines that drift amidst clouded veils. Hunagshan is near Hangzhou, where I visited 3 or 4 times. It is one of those places that inspires a lot of landscape painters. The mountains you often see in Chinese paintings look unreal, jutting out of space, and the pine trees grow out of rocks. But when you go to Huang Shan or the Yellow Mountains, you will see these realistic landscapes. It is a magnificent place that makes you feel you are already in heaven.
